“Los más de 30 años que el proyecto Caja Negra mantiene, resuenan mucho más admirables aun cuando pensamos en todas las crisis de la historia chilena; que van desde el desarraigo institucional generado por la dictadura chilena hasta la instauración del programa neoliberal y esa manía por privatizar hasta la conciencia de los artistas.
Esa guerrilla se ha mantenido gracias a la convicción de los integrantes; primero de no ceder ante la imposición tanto de un aparato de estado opresor, y luego el no dejarse llevar por los paradisiacos encantamientos que la sociedad del consumo-oferta a cambio de una dosis de vaciamiento de la fuerza crítica, que sin duda ha sido parte importante de la agenda de Caja Negra”
La contraposición visible entre el modelo expositivo institucional y lo que presenta Caja Negra como modelo expositivo (por ejemplo CUBO ) establece la diferencia entre lo que podemos denominar nuevos agentes de intervención en el espacio, rebasando el ideal de galería, de museo, de pabellón expositivo, en definitiva de cubo blanco, cuyo fin es reconocer la verdadera soberanía del artista y no el enunciado de poder que ésta enarbola sobre sus espectadores; ya que una exposición debería de ser el desarrollo dialectico y no dogmático del argumento del cual se está tratando.
Se trata de una toma de postura frente a los mecanismos empotrados y artimañas que ostenta la institucionalidad y que se configuran como válidos a la hora de emplazar políticas autoritarias en agendas impositivas que se visibilizan en por ejemplo restricciones del uso del espacio, en normas de montaje, o directamente en la censura del discurso de la obra, confrontadas a la libertad poética de un espacio autónomo “Cubo”.
Por lo tanto, la vertiginosa tarea de sus miembros es hoy en día el sobrellevar el complicado compromiso de entender que el proyecto no se inscribe en el espacio y por tanto no es el espacio, hoy más que nunca es preciso sobreponerse y entender a Caja Negra como un proyecto visual-crítico y de argumentación es decir un “espacio para el pensamiento”.
