El Museo de Artes Visuales MAVI, ofrecerá el próximo martes 19 de mayo a las 18.00.- una charla del filósofo y curador alemán Dieter Roelstraete quien entre otras actividades es parte del equipo curatorial de Documenta 14.
Antes de ser parte de Documenta, estuvo tres años como Manilow Senior Curator del MCA de Chicago.
Durante su tiempo en el MCA, curó “The Way of the Shovel: Art as Archaeology,” una exhibición de la obra de Simon Starling y una muestra sobre la cuidad de Chicago titulada “City Self”.
Roelstraete llegó al MCA desde el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Amberes, Bélgica (MuHKA), donde fue curador desde el 2003 hasta el 2011, de diversas muestras de grandes artistas contemporáneos.
Filósofo de profesión, ex editor de la revista Afterall y co-fundador de FR David, Roelstraete ha publicado extensamente sobre arte contemporáneo y cultura en numerosos catálogos y revistas como A Prior Magazine, Artforum, e-flux, Frieze, Mousse y Texte zur Kunst.
En su paso por MAVI, Roestraete se explayará sobre su práctica curatorial, la escritura y la unión entre arte y filosofía.

The Museum of Visual Arts MAVI, will offer next Tuesday 19 May at 6.00 pm – a conference by the German philosopher and curator Dieter Roelstraete who among other activities is part of the curatorial team of Documenta 14.
Before being a part of Documenta, he spent three years as Manilow Senior Curator at MCA in Chicago.
During his time at the MCA, he curated “The Way of the Shovel: Art as Archeology,” an exhibition of Simon Starling’s work and a display about Chicago City titled “City Self.”
Roelstraete arrived at the MCA from the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp, Belgium (MuHKA), where he was curator from 2003 to 2011 of several exhibitions of great contemporary artists.
A philosopher by profession, former editor of Afterall magazine and co-founder of FR David, Roelstraete has published extensively on contemporary art and culture in numerous catalogs and magazines such as A Prior Magazine, Artforum, e-flux, Frieze, Mousse and Texte zur Kunst .
In his visit at MAVI, Roestraete will talk on his curatorial practice, writing and the union between art and philosophy.
