X PREMIO MAVI / MINERA ESCONDIDA ARTE JOVEN CONTEMPORÁNEO

Cumplimos 10 años.
Estamos de aniversario, cumplimos 10 años realizando el Concurso de Arte Joven y lo celebramos con la consecución de una meta: una década junto a Minera Escondida, sacando a la luz e impulsando a los nuevos talentos de las artes visuales de nuestro país.
Podemos decir que casi una generación de artistas ha sido impulsada por el concurso que ha concentrado a jóvenes que ahora se desenvuelven dentro del medio nacional e internacional, otorgando la posibilidad de demostrar su valor a un segmento de artistas para los cuales la instancia de exposición en museos es escasa.
El X Premio MAVI/Minera Escondida Arte Joven Contemporáneo se realiza dentro del marco de difusión y promoción del arte contemporáneo, escenario que para el Museo de Artes Visuales representa una pieza clave dentro de sus objetivos.
Este año además, se realiza por segunda vez la residencia de un artista de Antofagasta en la ciudad de Santiago, premio que junto con el concurso, suscribe al objetivo de ambas instituciones por apoyar la creación de los artistas jóvenes del país.
El jurado del X Premio MAVI/Minera Escondida Arte Joven Contemporáneo está compuesto este año, por Jorge Brantmayer, fotógrafo, Maria Irene Alcalde, curadora colección MAVI y por tres reconocidos artistas cuya obra podemos ver actualmente en Santiago:
Teresa Gazitúa, en MAVI con la exposición Tiempo de Piedras, Raimundo Edwards, en galería Tajamar, con Hexagonal y Joaquín Sánchez, jurado internacional, quien se encuentra exponiendo en el MNBA en la exposición Cruces Líquidos.

We celebrate our 10th anniversary
Today is the 10th anniversary of the Young Art contest and we celebrate it with the achievement of a goal: one decade with Escondida Mine showing and helping new talents of visual arts in our country.
We can say there is almost a whole generation of artists that have grown because of the contest that gathered young people who are participating in national and international media giving the possibility of showing the value of a segment of artists which have low possibilities of showing their exhibition in a museum.
X MAVI MINERA ESCONDIDA YOUNG CONTEMPORARY ART AWARD is made to promote and disseminate contemporary art. This is important for Museum of Visual Arts because is one of their most important objectives.
Also, this year we receive an Artist-in-residence for second time in Santiago from Antofagasta that with the award and the contest endorses the objective of both institutions which is to support the creation of young artists of the country.
The judges of the X MAVI MINERA ESCONDIDA YOUNG CONTEMPORARY ART contest is composed by the photographer Jorge Brantmayer, Curator of MAVI collection Maria Irene Alcalde and three recognized artists who are exposing their pieces of work presently in Santiago:
Teresa Gazitúa at MAVI with an exposition named Tiempo de Piedras/ Stones Time, Raimundo Edwards at the Tajamar gallery with the expositions Hexagonal and Joaquín Sánchez (national judge) at MNBA in an exposition called Cruces Líquidos/ Liquid Cross.
