Helen podría tener un vida feliz junto a su marido, pero se aburre. Mantiene una relación con un hombre más joven, Paul; no sabe bien que es lo que sostiene esa relación, si el deseo, el dinero, la necesidad de compañía, la misma soledad que la visita… no sabe. Serge; un hombre mayor, arquitecto, que carga con una pena muy fuerte por la pérdida de su esposa, se cruzara en sus historias; un hombre, una proyección, la consumación de los deseos y los fracasos de ambos; un personaje que es como un fantasma de la vida, pero que los marcará para siempre.
