Al igual que el curador, Francisco Huichaqueo, la reconocida artista visual y poeta, Cecilia Vicuña, se inspirará en las piezas de la colección mapuche del Museo Arqueológico de Santiago para llevar a cabo una performance en torno a la actual muestra que se presenta en dicho lugar: Wenu Pelon/ Portal de Luz.
Esta exposición se exhibe desde el 27 de abril gracias al trabajo de Huichaqueo, quien reinterpretó las piezas arqueológicas y etnográficas y las complementó con una serie de videos arte, producidos por el mismo artista.
La performance de Cecilia Vicuña en torno a Wenu Pelon/ Portal de Luz se realizará el domingo 27 de septiembre, a las 12 del día y consistirá en cantos, poemas y relatos orales que entregan su visión de cómo ha influido la poesía mapuche en su vida. Ahí también estará Francisco Huichaqueo quien posteriormente moderará una conversación entre Vicuña y la escritora María Huenuñir.
La artista.
Poeta, artista visual y activista política, Cecilia Vicuña (1948) es considerada una de las pioneras del arte conceptual en Chile. En su obra aborda distintas preocupaciones que van desde los derechos humanos y la homogeneización cultural, hasta la destrucción de la naturaleza. A principios de 1970 realizó una serie de acciones de arte relacionadas con los símbolos del mundo indígena precolombino, la naturaleza y la mitología de América del Sur. También fue conocida por ser parte del grupo de artistas y poetas, Tribu No.
Vicuña, a la fecha, ha publicado 22 libros de arte y poesía y su trabajo ha sido expuesto en instituciones como la Tate Gallery de Londres, el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Chile (MAC) y el MOMA, entre otros.

Like the curator, Francisco Huichaqueo, the renowned visual artist and poet, Cecilia Vicuña, will be inspired by the pieces of the Mapuche collection of the Archaeological Museum of Santiago to carry out a performance around the current exhibition in the same place: Wenu Pelon / Portal de Luz/ Light Portal.
This exhibition has been exhibited since April 27 thanks to the work of Huichaqueo, who reinterpreted the archaeological and ethnographic pieces and complemented them with a series of art videos, produced by the artist himself.
The performance of Cecilia Vicuña around Wenu Pelon / Light Portal will be held on Sunday, September 27, at noon and will consist of songs, poems and oral stories that deliver her vision on how Mapuche poetry has influenced her life. Francisco Huichaqueo will also be there, who will later moderate a conversation between Vicuña and the writer María Huenuñir.
The artist.
Poet, visual artist and political activist, Cecilia Vicuña (1948) is considered one of the pioneers of conceptual art in Chile. In her work she addresses different concerns going from human rights and cultural homogenization, to the destruction of nature. In the early 1970s she performed a series of art actions related to the symbols of the pre-Columbian native world, the nature and mythology of South America. She was also known for being part of the group of artists and poets, Tribe No.
Vicuña, has published 22 books of art and poetry and her work has been exhibited in institutions such as the Tate Gallery in London, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chile (MAC) and MOMA, among others.
